Ok I have used NFU and petplan in the past but investigating insurance for my new horse SEIB came up with the most reasonable quote. I have never delt with them before so would like to know experiences of them. Good comany? Do they pay up if you need to claim? (hopefully I won't but thats what insurance is for) Views please!

No problems whatsoever. But surprised they came out cheaper than NFU!!!

I have a grumble. I bought and expensive saddle (£2K) and added the value to my policy..increased it by £10 a month. Saddle proved unsuitable, and after wrangling with the maker, I eventually got my money back. Asked SEIB if it could be removed from my policy....you'd think my premium would go down...yes by £1. I'm changing when it comes up for renewal.

been with them (through a Just Equestrian broker) 6 + years. paid out vets bills for navicular including Cambridge Uni and loss of use......for tack theft ( did quibble but paid up in line with policy), recently paid out a horrible sum to Rossdales and managed to ok for an operation that day within an hour once had vets report ( although had kept them informed beforehand of progress).
down site....they don't pay transport to vet hospital..( but have lorry so not a problem) cant think of any other.

Could do a lot worse! But NFU supposed to be very good.

I was with them with my last horse for 6 years and my current horse 2 years and never had a single problem. They paid out any vets bills extremely promptly, even though my current horse had a claim through kick injuries (she was a scrapper!!) every three! months in the 2 years she was insured with them. They paid out without quibble the value of my other mare when she broke her leg and handled it kindly and sensitively.

They were I believe the only company to pay out on our yard when about 60 owners had their tack stolen from individual locked storages! I got full compensation for my tack, whereas most did not with other companies as the small print insisted on mortice locks etc.

I only changed from them because about 6 years ago they lost their underwriters I believe and whilst the change to another one was happening, they whacked their premiums up to stupid figures, so I changed to KBIS (who have been equally brilliant). However, my sister stayed with SEIB and the following year the premiums went down to normal levels again and she has had no problems at alll with them, has two horses and a horsebox insured.

They are brilliant. Two big claims in less than a year, no problems with paying out, and no stupid exclusions on the policy. Highly recommended, and always pleasant to deal with on the phone. Also have my lorry with them but haven't had to claim (touch wood).
