i have just got home from my w/e at Carlton Towers. Sorry I missed dizzykizzy's first tournament but well done to her.
I had a great time but not at first!
When we arrived I took the dogs for a walk after the long journey and although I realised there would be some shooting, my oh my I hadn't realised how loud it was or how near the flyball. Jess was just desparate to get back to the caravan.
By the flyball ring however you could not hear the gunfire so I hatched a cunning plan!
Early on Saturday morning I walked the dogs and I took a gazebo, Jess's cage, something to cover it with and everything I needed for the day and set up "camp" by the flyball ring. I made sure Jess was by the ring before the shooting started and the noise of the flyball dogs was drowning all the other noises .
Yeah! It worked.
Jes didn't hear the shooting and ran perfectly, helping her team to 1st place. Even my good old Lab had a couple of runs in the team so she got a 1st rosette too.
And more importantly I had a happy dog.
By the time the flyball had finished on saturday, the shooting had finished so I could give both dogs a great walk around the showground when everyone had gone home.
On Sunday and this morning I made sure I got up early and took Jess for her walks before the Fair got under way, then again at the end of the day.
Happy Mummy. happy dogs.
Sorry for the long post but I am so pleased with my dogs and my cunning plan.
