Too clever pony jumped out of field and managed to break top rail of the fence with his knee ( found this out afterwards) , galloped round, sound as a pound, and was ridden afterwards with no apparent ill effects. The following day, he's flat out with a knee like a football, emergency vet, x-rays - not broken, bute, weeks box rest, walking in hand, cold hose etc. Knee has gone down a lot, and vet says he can go out for a couple of hours a day. Has anyone else got experience of this type of injury, this is only week 3, he's walking fine in straight lines, vet suggested a quick trot up - he's eager enough, not hopping lame but not right.
Anyone else had this experience? How did recovery go ? Vet seems confident but I have a sinking feeling.
