I took my horse out sj and xc schooling this morning and I'm still smiling. He was such a star.
I've entered an unaffliated one day event next week and in a moment of madness decided to do the 3' class so thought we'd better do a bit of practice.
He took a dislike to one of the fillers when started show jumping - they were those lovely psychadelic ones that dance around in front of your eyes, but once he's had a look was fine. Decided the rest of them were ok though and built up to a 3' course which I haven't done since before he was injured 2 years ago.
Cross country he was awesome - really taking things on. They have a big hay cart (its about 3' which to me is big - I'm sure you proper eventers wouldn't even notice it

) I've looked at it for years and thought I'd never be able to jump it - just something about it being so upright and having no real ground line put me off. I said to my instructor that I'd like to be able do it one day expecting her to say we'd get there eventually, but she just said go on then. Boo flew it - I was so thrilled with him. Hopefully we won't get anything as scary next week, but at least I know I can do it now (I always thought he could!)

Well done if you've got this far. I know its self-indulgent, but I just want to say a really big thank you to my lovely horse. He his such fun to ride and takes really good care of his muppet rider and I love him to bits
