I keep looking at this picture that my OH took of me and George on Sunday and I can't believe it is me and that George is actually my horse

Since I was 7 years old (I'm now 38

) I prayed that my birthday or christmas would bring that special surprise but I was always bitterly bitterly disappointed

(I don't think I ever realised how hard up my parents were

) I have only had him 6 months now, but if at the beginning of the year someone had said by the end of the year you will have your own horse AND be standing at a competition with rosette in hand I would have laughed!

Whatever happens I just want to reflect on how lucky I am and how grateful I am that my dream has come true

thats lovely,i remember when i was younger and always wanted my own horse,i came home from school one day and there was a man in the yard talking to my parents,so i went down to see what he was doing and he said have you seen your horse yet !!!!
well as you can imagine i was gobsmacked and soooo excited ! i ran straight to the stable but couldn't see anything over the door until i looked down and standing there was a falabella !!!! i was gutted as i wanted a big horse !!

Lovely post!

I totally understand - I can't believe that now in my thirties I have three ponies (ok, 2 are shetlands) after dreaming of owning one since being a little girl.

Must be something about horses that make us look young - I look like a kid on my pony and they refused to sell me alcohol in the supermarket the other day as I had no ID

Here is to many years of happy horses and looking like teenagers

WELL DONE and WELL DONE GEORGE. I know exactly how you feel - I always, always wanted a pony/horse when I was young. Had to wait until I was 20 before I could afford my own. That was 30 years ago

and now I have 3 horses and two dinky ponies for my granddaughters. Everyday I appreciate what I have got. Enjoy George - he is a megastar!

Oh Trish - it is a lovely picture showing George in all his glory!!

I totally understand how you feel - it took me until I was 42 for my own horse and I love him just as much as you love George! I felt exactly the same when we won our first showing class in the summer.

Onwards and upwards I say - the sky is the limit!!

What a nice square halt! I'm really pleased for you that you are enjoying George so much, he seems such a nice horse.
PS just looked at your other post on the competition and admire your plaiting especially the tail!
