Self locking jockey wheel

I have a self locking jockey wheel (doesn’t have the clamp bit), it’s not working properly, when i try to unhitch it’s not lifting the trailer up
Has anyone else had issues with this and how do I get it unhitched so i can use my jeep

My Cheval Liberte trailer has a self locking jockey wheel. It sometimes doesn't work if the ground is at the wrong angle. If you just move the trailer, even a slight way, it sometimes works.
