My horse has developed a small wart like/sarcoid/like growth just where his umbilical cord would have been (he's 8yrs now!). Its been there for about 4 years and was always small button like in size. I asked the vet to look at it last year and they didn't seem too concerned but I have noticed that it has grown slightly - possibly 1/4 inch in length in total now. Is there anything that you would recommend I put on it? I'm not sure whetther to leave it alone completely or try him on one of these powders, or paint something on it? He's black, not grey if that makes any difference.

If it's not causing any problems / growing quickly leave it alone. If it's worrying you call a vet. Sometime home treatments work, sometimes they nothing, sometimes they make things a lot worse.

I'd definitely leave it alone as you may end up just aggravating it! Talk to your vet as they may recommend the cream from the University of Liverpool.

Sarc-Ex by Global Herbs (a powder supplement) shrunk my horse's sarcoid, but it doesn't work for everyone.

I wouldn't self treat. The only thing predictable about sarcoids is how unpredictable. Look at Prof Knottenbelt's website for more information.

Personally, my vet only uses the Liverpool cream as it is the only treatment that is scientifically proven to work. Some creams and topical treatments may actually stimulate the sarcoid and increase growth.

It might not even be a sarcoid, it could be an umbilical hernia? I would definitely speak to your vet and not attempt to treat it myself.

leave it alone unless it starts to change its appearance rapidly.

I second this view.

I used the cream on my boy unfortunately now they are 3 times the size they originally were and he also rubbed the cream and it has left him with terrible itchy scaring on his nose.

My advice leave it be unless it really is affecting him.

if you want sarcoid gone and treated IMO save you time and money and get vet in and get liverpool treatment........

Promise you only way to go if you want this type of cancer gone from your gg anything else you're just messing around at edges........

Yep - totally agree with Kick_On.

The other thing to note is that Prof. K does not like to prescribe liverpool cream for sarcoids that have already been messed with - so it should be a first point of call, not a last.

It is expensive but works. My horse had 5 sarcoids (one was very large) and they have now all gone.
