This left me astounded. My friend and I were hacking down a local countrylane.

In front of us was a Land Rover towing a trailer full of sheep, and clearly it wasn't going to be stopping to let us pass (single car width lane). So, we about turned and walked back to the nearest layby. I should say that the road was downhill, wet and covered in leaf litter.

The Land Rover was right up my backside - and the engine was idling. My horse dealt with it very well, but my friend who was now in the layby gestured - politely - to request the car to back off a bit and not get so close. When the car was level with us, the driver wound down her window and started ranting at us saying that we were inconsiderate to make her slow down and we should have trotted down the hill and got out of her way!!!! Can you beeeeeelieeeeevvvvveee this???????????????? We were incredulous.

Just another day :( so many hurried inconsiderate drivers. We were standing watching the pigs yesterday and there was a car coming along so I waved at it to slow down. I was on a horse whose previousley freaked out going by the pigs and the other was a youngster. Did he slow down ? Hell no  on the plus side the horses seemed to have gotten over their pig phobia:)

Who was closer to a lay by? Have to say in this instance a horse seems to be far more manoeuvrable than a landy and trailer full if sheep..

Rider Lizzie, totally agree, but DON'T agree that it should be so close to the back of my horse OR that the driver should then rant at us and say we should have trotted on a wet, downhill lane so as not to inconveneicen her!!!
