Having prosted a week or so back I have come to the conclusion that in order to purchase the 'horse of my dreams' I need to sell my slightly too small version. I was going to loan him but it looks like I need a budget upwards of £5000 and at the moment only have £2500 so I need to sell my boy to get the rest :(

But do I sell now or wait and hope the market will pick up in spring? If so when is the best time for those looking? Or will a good pony sell any time of the year?

I would suggest waiting unless he is the perfect pony club saint type in which case name your price. Sorry you are having to sell though, such a shame when they are too small as nothing you can do about it.

It would do no harm to advertise now at the value you think he is worth and see what happens. the weeks between now and spring are going to pass anyway so you may as well have an advert out there!

I'd advertise now, and aim to have sold by spring...

This is what I did. I was overwhelmed by the interest he had and sold him last weekend. Now have him until the end of the month which is giving me plenty of time to have attacks of sweaty indecision!
