i am not suprised at the amount of posts regarding selling/buying problems.

what does supprise me is why people dont just go to dealers?

rather than travel for miles, waste your time and petrol JUST GO TO A DEALER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i have always used them to buy and sell. i am fed up with idiots who cant ride and turn my horses into bumbling jellies as they are so confused, and sellers who dont descibe horses correctly.

dealers will offer a trial/warrent, the bonus of this is that you take a horse and if it proves to be the right one THEN you get it vetted!!!!!!!!!
you are also protected by traders descripton act. (within reason)

i must also admitt that when i want to buy or sell something i usually want to do it within 1-2 weeks. so dont want to spend 6 months wandering the country!

dont know if i can recommend but i have just brought a lovely mare from dutchcompetitionhorses, i have also used
frankley international, and coldicot (sp?) sport horses.

decided i wnated another horse on monday, rang three dealers, visited two over the following weekend, and on that sunday brought my mare home. less than a week and i saw about 10 horses.

I agree with this post. Sure there are some unscrupulous dealers about - but these kind of people get everywhere.

I always bought my horses privately except for my last horse where I went to a dealer. They were absolutely fantastic - they wouldn't even let me try a horse which they thought would not suit me.

They were really patient - I went and rode several horses several times. When I bought my horse I then had a two week trial on top of that.

They specialise mainly in importing young Irish horses but do sell other kinds too. They have such a good range, with new ones arriving the whole time.
