and looking for a horse in UK / Ireland (ID or IDx)..... sorry didn't find a better title for a thread :)

I've tried contacting Janet George (following advice I got here) but her inbox is full and my pm is either still in it (now 1.5months) or she's not interested in selling me a horse. I've also requested video's on 2 occasions from horses posted on the right side of this page....no answer.

Personally i've never sold a horse (though i've owned them for 30+ years) but I hear in NL there are mostly Nigerian gangs that will contact you if you have a horse for sale and without viewing them yourself will try to scam you!

But I'm not one of those people !
When i've responded to add's I told them i'm from NL and also told them my intentions/wishes like breed, age and that i'm looking for a horse for life, not to sell on etc. 5* vetting done

What am I doing wrong ?

I think you are not the only one not to have replies from your enquiries. It happens quite often as far as I know.

It can be that the horses you are interested in have already been sold or they are getting a lot of attention so it is easier for the seller to sell to someone already here..?

If you can get a contact number for the sellers, it is a lot better to call directly. I find a lot of horsey people are not really good at replying to emails !!

Maybe for the first contact do not mention were you are? If they reply to you then you can explain further?

Sorry I cannot really help more

Low-cost calls available from www.telediscount.nl
I've used the uk version many times and it is legit and works well. Best thing is that you don't have to sign up/register: just dial using the access number and it will turn up on your bill.
I'm not very techy, so there may be lots of other options which you are already aware of. Good luck with your horse search - don't forget to keep us updated when you get somewhe with these pesky sellers

Were you planning on visiting the UK to view? If so then I can't see that where you are from is relevant to tell the seller. If you were not planning to view then I would not sell to you as I kind of do an interview of prospective owners if I sell, including if the horse appears to like being ridden by them. I simply would not sell to a buyer that did not come to try.

I am sorry if that would exclude you, and I am sure you would be an excellent owner, but I like to have my horse's input too.

If you did view then I would still be at a disadvantage as I usually check the yard a horse is to live at when I deliver (before accepting payment). I never have brought it home, but would if it was a rubbish yard not as described, and I would refund the vetting fee too. That one would not be insurmountable though. I guess you could show photos, and tell me how the transport was arranged. If the horse liked you and I trusted you then that would be enough.

So, if you are going to view, arrange vetting, pay and then arrange transport then it would not be different to selling to anyone else. I agree to phone rather than email.
