Ok so know I have got to the point that I am about to implode!

So far on the search for new horse I have been fed BS by EVERY seller - the unblemished horse that has splints as big as footballs, the newly professionally broken horse which is quiet in every way that I can look at, buy, but under no circumstances allowed to ride and today .......

Yes today the horse that is jumping 1m+ loves cross country (passport away getting overstamped by bsja so couldn't give registered name untill pushed!) is found to be a total and utter lie - horse has been registered under two names and hidden by the owner - one which shows every time you ask it to show jump or go cross country it is eliminated the other is the name they are trying to sell it under - and believe me this is no mistake.

It seems like you can't trust anyone when buying a horse to speak the truth and these sellers have the bloody cheek to put in their ads no time wasters, joyriders or day trippers

.

And it isn't as if I am looking for a horse a the bottom end of the market these are all between 10k & 15K

Arrrrrrghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

My Instructor is a dealer and gets it the other way round all the time, she tells them the truth then gets complete numpties that think they can pony club kick a recently backed 3 year old WB.

The world is full of numpties....

Selling works badly the other way too.
I spent three months trying to sell a 14hh coloured all rounder for a freind. Had seven calls. One person rang three times and didnt arrive for any appointment. I eventually rang to find out where she was to be told by her husband he didnt know she was looking to buy a pony!! Not one of the callers turned up.
Wasted four Saturday afternoons waiting in for complete timewasters. Not fair on us or the poor mare who was brought in for no reason.

...agreed..numptiness not confined to sellers unfortunately!!

I am, advertising something very clearly worded as needs competent rider...bit green etc and the only calls I get are from people wanting a first pony for their nervous 3yo child. I have even had to quite forcibly talk people out of viewing him by repeatedly telling them he will NOT be suitable!! Can they read?! ..I think not!

Good luck with your search!

ditto- had the same when i seriously contemplated putting mine up for sale as he has demonstrated a severe aversion to fixed fences. Bit unfortunate as i had bought him to go eventing..Without fail, even though the ad specified SJ and stressage only, I had people who were convinced they could turn him into an eventer...why on EARTH would you want to buy a horse to event when the owner has told you he does not enjoy XC which is (was) the reason for selling - and no he wasnt particularly cheap! anyway, he has stayed because of his character and is doing pretty well on the SJ and DR front...hes a lifer now!

Don't reckon splints are a massive issue if you get the horse vetted tbh. Several horses I know have them yet compete at Novice BE and beyond and its never bothered them...

So what's wrong with a few lumps and bumps. No horse is perfect just like you and me.

I am looking for a middleweight/heavyweight hunter to show at a high level so splints as big as footballs are an issue
