I have had a lovely woman want to buy my mare as a brood mare she is going to give me a price then when she is confirmed in foal she will give me the rest

One of my liveries is a lawyer so can get her to draw me up a contract

But how would you request the money to be paid she has offered Bankers draft but im more leaning towards BAC's Transfer or Cash ???

I would prefer BACS personally but if she insists on bankers draft insure it clears (incase its one of thsoe fake ones that have been doing the rounds) before you let her transporters pick her up.

yes see this is what i was thinking getting a BAC's transfer she said the money is in the UK so i guess it cant be that difficult

Oh... I thought it was a bit funny selling your good horse as a broodmare.

If she's a serious buyer surely she'd just do a bank transfer - It's instant isn't it?

Also, how is the mare bred, just out of interest, we've got a few to get rid of this year ( plus babies : ( ...

This means absolutely nothing to me haha * I know absolutely nothing about dressage *

Think I should start getting pics of ours as gotta get them moved really - we have too many! Was she advertised for long? I never know how broodmares will sell, I suppose a plus side for us is that we can either sell them empty or in foal to one of our boys which wouldn't obviously cost us anything.

I am not a lawyer, but my understanding is that law is a very territorial thing and the UK courts are not able to pursue unpaid debts when the debtor is resident abroad... So I believe that your (probably beautifully-crafted) contract may well be useless as you will not be able to enforce it in a UK court.

So, unless I am way off with my understanding, there is absolutely no way that I would let this woman disappear to France with the horse without handing over the full amount first!

As for your question about money, I'm not sure really but would probably phone up my bank to ask which was the most secure route.
