Hi All, I am really struggling here, have advertised our horse on Gumtree, Scot Ads, Scothorse, horses4sale, and just not sure have go the ad right! We really need to sell one of our horses quickly since, my Mum is in hospital, and both my daughters do not have the time to look after this one as well as their others. He does need a bit more work in the school, but is an amazing hacker, even out in strong winds the other day (by accident they started when out) with stuff flying around and he does not bat an eyelid. We are only asking £950 for him, he is 12, and stands at 16:1, but people who are enquiring are either stupidly expecting a competition horse for that kind of money or are trying to beat us down to ridiculous prices - do people think this is a fair price for what he is? He does have a lovely nature and no vices either!!! Just no idea what is going on - one woman said that she can buy a horse for £400 that can do everything he can, wished her best of luck!

Have you tried FB pages like Horsey stuff for sale in Scotland, also the local equivalents (eg we have one for Aberdeenshire specifically)?

It's a rubbish time of year to sell horses, but agree with you, a decent hacking horse without major issues should make £1k easily

Possibly too cheap? Just end up attracting wrong type of buyer... What about getting in touch with someone who buys and sells in the area as he may suit a client on their books?

A 12 year old hacking horse is a difficult horse to sell especially at this time of year....has he done anything else ? Perhaps you might have more chance of loaning him ?
