After coming to the decision that selling my thoroughbred when I go off to university I was wondering if anyone could give me any advice on the price to sell him at. He has competed in prelim and novice dressage with 69-71% scores and definitely has the ability to go further. He has done some light jumping but doesn't enjoy it particularly and I have another horse that does so we focus on the schooling which he loves. The only problem is that he has scarring on his legs and although we aren't entirely sure what they are from our dentist who's an ex jockey believes they are form bandages being put on to tightly he has also previously injured his tendon around about 5 years ago which meant that he never raced. he is only 7 now so not too old and has only been broken for a year. Well done if you've go this far :)

I think TB's are the hardest to sell of all types. There are more of them than anything else! With his history of a tendon injury and the time of year as well as the market being depressed anyway, I would think under £1000

TB's are hard to sell, and tendon injuries always put people off ( and lines on legs after tendon injuries I always think that could be where they've been fired). But if he's competeing with that kind of score after only a year of work that's really good. If you have the option I'd do loan with view to buy and ask £1500 then they could knock you down a little but still get a reasonable price. Also with an option to try him out and see how good he is they might be more tempted to pay the extra.
