So how do you manage? Selling …….Shortly after lockdown we bought a fab horse at a realistic price ie not cheap and not mega also not negotiable. Five stage vetting, transport arranged no probs 😀 delivered, getting on grand one or two minor quirks which will improve over time. That leaves the outgrown one to sell and whose tried selling recently? People who know said horse are amazed he’s not been snapped up. Plenty people going to come then don’t turn up because it’s suddenly to far, to cold, to expensive, to small 😳 or to big! Had 5 stage vetting for someone recently no probs … but change of mind and another who tried hanging on the coat tails of previous non buyer but then went from wanting a steady eddy to super fast jumper! So do we up the price again as we’re slightly underpriced or change to offers, or do we just give up which isn’t a good option as needy likes doing stuff.

Where are you advertising? What's he like? As alternatives have you tried contacting equine agents, so that they know of him if a client is looking for that type - I would think buyers are more serious if they are employing an agent. I don't know how many people are buying at the moment, it's still cold, muddy, no grass in the fields, plus general concerns over finances. Maybe you'd do better in a month or so?

My friend sold recently and had no shortage of perfectly sensible buyers. Maybe your pony is overpriced. They have come down a fair amount a) as a naturaladjustment to the crazy Covid prices and b) time of year. But still selling for decent money. Well above pre-Covid prices. This was an 8 yo 14.2 Connie, fine up to 80 but struggled at 90. The odd buck and could lack confidence so unreliable comp record as has stops. Not dirty stops, just 'eek don;t like the look of this' stops. But a sweet, decent 2nd pony, great fun to take to beach, clinics, camps. High 4 figures.

Is he known locally eg through RC or PC?
If so it might be worth putting the word out to people who would have seen him out and about, someone may be quietly coveting him

I still like the old fashioned method of the advert up in the local tack shop! But I know that doesn't get you far reaching interest. Only thing I can maybe think is if he's really reasonable priced sensible buyers may be questioning if there's anything wrong with him. I'm currently looking for my next horse and if a horse is reasonably priced or on the cheaper side I bizarrely find myself wondering whats wrong with it since so many are overpriced these days 🤔

If you have a nice pony which can jump a small course and will hack out nicely try advertising him on a Pony Club website. He may be ideal for someone there.

another who would maybe think he’s underpriced - when i was looking, i did question why some of the seemingly lovely horses were so cheap and it put me off because i figured there was something that wasn’t mentioned!

It can be to cheap and buyers then wonder why and chicken out of buying it. Re advertise on a different site with different photos with different backgrounds different description for more money, maybe oh or d/s phone number.
