Hi all. This is my first post on here so I hope it is in the right place!

I was wondering if anyone could help.... I bought a lovely event mare in March. She is very talented and has the kindest, sweetest temperament but at 16.3hh she is just too big and powerful for me so I have decided to sell her. We have had lots of interest in her but not many people viewing her. I think people are being put off because she's being moved on fairly quickly and I had a bad run BE on her. Once I sell her I will look to buy another horse, basically a 15.2/16hh version of her. So... I was thinking are there any good dealers who would have a safe, straightforward event/allrounder type with experience at BE90/100 or done lots of RC/PC between 7 and 10 years old who would part exchange for my mare? Selling is so stressful, expensive and I will be very sad to see my mare go so if anyone's got any ideas please let me know. Thank you!!

I went to Rumer Stud based in Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire a couple of years ago and they had some decent horses for sale. Its worth a phone call.

Caron Nicol (Rumer Stud) tends to specialise more in SJers, especially younger ones....4/5/6 year olds. This is her website: http://www.europeansportshorses.co.uk/

Personally, I would place your horse with a Pro on a schooling/selling livery in order to get a couple of good runs on his card and then sell. Then, when you have your cash, look for your next horse independently. I think you would lose less financially this way.....assuming of course that your current horse is genuine and that you have just over-horsed yourself a tad.

I went and tried a lovely 10year old dressage horse at Rumer Stud. So like i say its worth a call. Also you could try Lazyacresstables.co.uk they do eventing horses Naomi Franklin 07711582406. They're in Warwickshire.

Another option is to put an ad on the BE website. At least the people in there are looking for eventers. We sold an event youngster this way, cut out the inappropriate replies enormously.

I would say that most good event horse dealers would be open to the idea of a part ex. So you're probably best to ring around those that have something that you are interested in and ask if they would consider a part exchange before you book a viewing.

I am based in Buckinghamshire. I know Melissa but she doesn't have anything suitable at the moment which is a shame. Thank you all for your help :)
She is very talented with masses of potential, good enough for a pro- my BE accredited trainer has said she would easily be a 2* horse and probably more. So I was thinking that it might be an option to keep my ears open for someone who has a consistent pre novice horse that maybe would struggle at novice who would want to swap or part exchange for my mare? Does that kind of thing come up very often??!
