Selling my saddle on ebay, good idea or not?

I had loads of people interested in my Albion Kontrol on here but sadly no buyers so I decided to put it on ebay, should I be worried? If someone buys it and then decides when they get it that it doesn't fit or wasn't what they wanted, will I have to take it back? I did put no return on my listing

If your description is good then you *shouldnt* have to have it back. But I have been forced to, by ebay, have an item back as the person lied that it wasnt in the condition in which i described it and sent it back. I think personally they just overspent and didnt realise and then panicked and complained to ebay (and left me the one -ve feedback in goodness knows how many transactions ). But i am pretty certain that was a one off. I also have a saddle for sale (18 med sankey in A1 condition if anyone is interested ) but I'm hesitant to ebay it because it is a £1750 saddle, but because Andrew Sankey is a bespoke saddle maker people dont know of the make and so only want to pay pennies (and I'm not asking anywhere near the original price, but im not gonna sell it for £100!!). I think the "bigger" names like your kontrol will sell well. And I think you just have to keep your fingers crossed there are no numpties!

I sold my jump saddle on eBay, I got £600 for it which I thought for a 2yr old saddle in this climate wasn't too bad!
It went to a buyer in the US. Apparently it didn't have the panel they thought it did or something but they said it was a lovely saddle and they kept it. It was immaculate though and an expensive saddle brand new.
I think if you put a fair price on it and an honest description you should have no comeback .

I've sold a few on ebay with no problems. Just put no returns, its got nothing to do with you if it doesn't fit their horse, they bought it, its their problem, as long as you send it as described.

I did have a bit of an issue with a woman who bought a Pessoa off me, it was clearly pictured on the listing, I had plenty of correspondence with her, sent her more photos, measured D ring to D ring etc, I sent the saddle and got an e-mail saying it wasn't the model she wanted and could I take it back and refund her? Err, no.

I have sold stuff in the past on ebay, not equestrian, but I have had some bad luck :-/ Some kid bid for and won my son's nitro car but obviously never paid for it and then we sold my son's Nintendo and the buyer reckons he never received it, even though we had a post office receipt, they were obviously scamming us. We sold it for 80 quid but in the end only got the insurance from the post office of 37 quid, so I am a tad worried! Hopefully equestrian bidders aren't scammers

I always send my saddles with ParcelForce 48, they have to sign for the parcel at the other end, so there is absolutely no way they can say they haven't received it.

Yep, always send recorded (preferably UPS - haha!) And in my experience, horsey buyers are more genuine than others.

Only think I will say is if the buyer pushes and pushes for the refund, ebay will side with them. I supplied evidence of my item going in the described condition, but they washed (it was a sheepskin numnah) and then said I had sent it damaged. Ebay still sided with them which I thought was a bit annoying, but ces't la vie.... At least it wasnt a £600 saddle!

Ive just brought my saddle off ebay (Albion kontact rather than the kontrol) - i think the Albions have been going fairly well recently, and if its a popular size then it should sell. Make sure you dont put it up for much less than you want for it (if lower at all) as its rare for saddles to get lots of bids unless started at stupidly low prices. As long as you say no returns then in my mind you are not obliged to take it back if it doesnt fit, thats the risk they take! good luck

Ebay go by the rules the customer is always right so i would be carefull, make sure your describe as best you can and put good pictures on and as well i would put no returns on the description. me and my hubby had a very nasty ordeal on ebay but we won but we spoek to ther people who wernt so lucky so just make sure theres nothing they can fault you on and youll be fine but ebay do take a rather large cut if you sell it for over £70 they will take over £30

I managed to sell my Prestige single flap on ebay and did a deal in person for cash - much easier and just pulled the listing from ebay.

I just sold two saddles on there, postage is under £15. I have to say, I'm a bit worried about one of them as I was very honest about it, put photos up of it, stated that I wouldn't ride in it unless it had been checked by a saddler (it was a very old tatty stubben jump saddle) yet it sold for a lot more than I expected, and every day I keep expecting an email to tell me it's a rubbish saddle. I knew that - it's why I sold it!

If not eBay, what about saddles direct? Also rideaway sell second hand saddles, not sure how they go about buying?

Ive sold a number of saddles on there recently (had a big clear out ) and all gone very smoothly.

I sold one to Germany and one to Holland and the others to the UK.

Make sure you ship with a good carrier- I think my overseas ones still only cost me about £20 to ship so worth shopping about for

Beware of buyers claiming the saddle not being as described.
I sold my jaguar xkc a few years ago sent a billion pics to the buyer along with every measurement under the sun. Everything went fine posted it out received an email to say it had arrived and was perfect. Excellent or so I thought.
A week later was contacted by paypal saying that the item was not as described and the buyer were sending the saddle back. They claimed it wasn't an XKC despite the saddle having XKC stamped on the flap!
So anyhow got the saddle back but refused the payment to paypal for refund. So they refunded the buyer and I raised a complaint which resulted (after months and months of negiotiating) with me keeping the saddle and the money! Bonus!
Moral of the story be very careful and document everything!

I sold my Devoucoux on e bay. I was so worried about the postage but the courrier was reasonable but I could not insure it so took a chance.

I have sold a few on ebay and got a good price for them. Echo what people say about clearly stating that it is a no refund policy! You sometimes get people that email you after the auction has ended etc as well. Pre loved is also a good site to sell saddles

I've sold a couple of Ebay. One thing that I do is photograph every inch of the saddle before you send it - and then photograph it being packed up. I also let the buyer know that I have done this and usually send them photos. I have never had anyone come back with a complaint about condition of saddle or packaging - I wonder if it is because I have digitally dated photographic evidence!

One lady bought a Swain saddle from me and it didn't fit. She asked if I would have it back, but I said no returns and meant it. I did send her the photos that I had taken, so that she could re-list it herself.

She seemed happy enough with that.
