Although it's fun hunting for horses, work keeps getting in the way! So I was wondering if you lovely forum folk wanted to join my search? Please PM me if you are selling one of these paragons of virtue!

My ideal shopping list:

- 15.2-16.1h
- 6-12 year old
- mare or gelding
- middleweight type
- RC horse but with a focus on hunting/xc
- Straightforward, not too nutty outside the hunt season
- Reasonable flatwork/paces - don't mind bringing on/schooling but am not after a true project/just backed youngster
- Good jump, particularly over xc fences of course
- Temperament and ability more important than anything else though

Reasonable budget for the right horse. Prefer within about 2 hours drive from London ie South East area.

I know this is quite a list and everyone is after these wonder horses! But I reckon they exist cos I have one (more sj than hunter though) :) Horse may not tick all the boxes but maybe there are a few out there that really are this good.

Also looking at low level eventer types but realise that's a different budget altogether!

Jaffa cakes and haribo for any happy helpers :)

Try Victri sports horses which is between southampton and portsmouth, they always have lovely horses and have a good rep.

I think they have some currently advertised on nfed

Thanks peeps - have booked to see some this weekend and will have a look at other suggestions perhaps for next weekend :) And hopefully OH won't go mental at me for spending the Easter weekend shopping for a new nag...

Right age, height etc but mine's a little green and only really done dressage. Can jump just not been asked to. Spotted arab though so rare and stunning lol

There is a lovely talented mare for sale at my yard.

Don't know everything about her but she is 7 and although I think I heard she is a tb you definatly wouldn't think so as she is a similar build to our ISH who has a real eventer shape. Would say she is 16-16.1 and very, very pretty.

Works nicely on the flat, is very level headed and capable show jumping and really impressed me when she came out with us XC last week. Really gave confidence to my daughter's 17 year old friend who can be a bit nervous at times. Not sure if she has hunted before but based on her attitude to xc I am certain she would excel at that too.

She is very easy to do, travels really well and as far as I know she is good to shoe. Only downside I have ever seen from her is so is quite impatient eg needs to learn to stand still being mounted and scrapes with her foot while tied up - that's it!

If you are interested pm me as I have some video clips of her xc.

Thank you kind folk, for replies and PMs (which I've replied to). Obviously better to post this kind of thing in the evenings! Will have a little looky at some suggestions :) PC UK website seems to have some good ones.

And nice to hear feedback about dealers - I know we're not supposed to ask but personal recommendations are really useful!

Hehe - I know, almost as much fun as looking yourself, but without the miles of travel and fuel consumption! Had a good weekend - Lynn from Prestwood Farm was very helpful and really took the time to work out what I wanted, and we progressed up the ranks from very quiet through to a bit more established/forward types - she's got a good range and they seem like quality horses.

Definately one possible from this weekend but I won't say more for now in case I jinx it :) More anon...!
