Can someone please tell me a) why people want d-d measurements, and b) how acurate is this? and c) without sounding dim or getting it wrong, can someone kindly explain HOW to measure d-d!?
Thanks masses.

not very accurate at all but is a better guide than nothing when buying unseen.

I know the measurement of my mare's fatty and jumping saddles from d to d and in the same place inside the padding and this is what I ask for.

If it is no where near I don't purchase even if it's the same make/model as there can be a big variance between 2nd hand saddles where they have been adjusted to fit various horses. If it's close then I would buy and ask my saddler to make it fit my chunky monkey.

Can someone please tell me a) why people want d-d measurements, I have no idea, it doesn't tell you anything about the width or fit of the saddle.

and b) how acurate is this? See above ;)

and c) without sounding dim or getting it wrong, can someone kindly explain HOW to measure d-d!? I agree with Joeanne, just take a photo of a tape measure stretched from D to D.

Thanks masses.
