Well i have decided to sell my horse as i compete alot and he never really enjoyed doing bigger xc tracks. He is a good dr horse and SJ'er. He is not very exspensive and is coming out in horsedeals next month which will be the begining of January (whichs is a magazine and website that everyone uses for selling horses in australia).

Im hoping for a quick sale

Your money would be better spent on drawing in the prospective purchasers, rather than handing them a booklet full of pictures of a horse they are there to see in the flesh anyway, as this will be your hardest task.

I agree, with Magic104, that the advert pictures will make or break your selling drive. This is what catches peoples eyes, in the field on many other horses for sale, and is often overlooked.

Price; Do not over price your horse because you think they are 'gods gifts' to the horse world. No one will by a average horse, for monster prices, when there are 100's of the same horses for sale cheaper.

State clearly, with at least a decent attempt to correctly spell the words (How often I have been put off adverts by the owners lacklustre attempt at writing a readable piece), and make sure you do not waffle on. Highlight the areas most people are interested in; Such as height, age, competition experience, type of ride (whether suitable for a complete novice, etc) and whether they are good in hand, etc.

Good luck!

Thanks for great advice. My mum wrote the advert with me so there are no spelling mistakes in it. we have put him at quite a low price but this isnt the best time of year to be selling over here. in australia there is only one magazine/website that people use all over the country called horsedeals thats what everyone knows and uses, so he is in there.

So do you think it is a bad idea to show them more pictures then? This is the picture we used in the advert...

I do find that I like to see a clear, with contrasting background, 'naked' conformational shot of a horse. That is what attracts my eyes, personally, and then if there is the option to have more photos; I like to see ridden and jumping, etc.
