I am looking to sell my richardson trailer and upgrade. I want to buy a new(er) trailer from a dealer because I want to make sure it is all safe and sound! Do you know how easy it is to part ex, or will I get a better deal if I sell privately?

You'll get more selling privately - so will have more to put towards a new one.

Trailers do sell much quicker in the spring / summer though. I tried to sell mine last Nov and didn't have any luck - so held on to it. Advertised it in June and it had sold the same day!

You will get a better deal if you sell privately but you have the hassle of selling. :) You have to weigh up whether the extra £500 you might get is worth the hassle. Then you may be without a trailer for a while. So you may have to buy a new one and then sell the old one. It depends on your fnances, situation, and the price you put on your time tbh.

I think ebay might be the way. I'll take photos and list it. When people buy on ebay are they commited to pay, or can they bid and win and then let you down. Obviously Id let people come and look before the end of the auction.

Also if you part ex does the company offer you a price, or do you have to take your trailer to them first for them to check it over and give you a price. Im new to all of this!!

See how much they offer you with or without pX
I would think better private and it gives you an edge on price for a new one. there are loads of free sites,if you go to shows with it put a for sale sign on,people will then see it first hand.
Captive market!

I sold my new ifor williams on E-bay a couple of years ago (i hated towing) as i wanted it sold without the hastle, and sold the trailer on the 2nd listing and they collected the next day.

I've just PX my old Ifor Williams for a brand new one :-)

I got £100 more for my trailer than I paid for it, which I thought was good as Id had it 3 years !

Now that is good LL.
When I sold my 510 they were more in demand than the 511s. Mine was only 18 months old and had been used 8 times. I could have sold it 4 times over.
