Hi

So I may be looking to buy a new very shortly depending on my house being sold following a separation. I would like a country/semi rural property preferable in East or Mid Lothian or Scottish Borders. Where do I look???? I have been on the usual property sites but is there any I can look at specifically to more rural properties??? The ones I come across are for selling full farms! I have a max budget of about £135k lol so looking for a nice cottage or something....can anyone recommend sites??

Personally I would try Remax or BSPC. The further west you go, the cheaper property is-East Lothian is very expensive and I'm not sure you'd get anything for that budget-not a rural cottage anyway.

Thanks! I have had a little look at BSPC. I am in East Lothian just now and was hoping to buy my ex out but looking like we might be selling so I am going to have to buy on my own and budget will depend on profit from house sale (and what he doesn't fight me for!)

its a big county so if you go south you might be lucky. saying that, we couldnt afford to buy what we wanted by a long shot there so went Biggar/Lanark direction (and I've always preferred the moors to the East Coast anyway but OH needed persuading). Our commute (we both work in/near Edinburgh) is the same as it was from East Linton for example, with less time sitting on the A1/A720.

As MoC said, the further west or south you go away from Edinburgh the more chance you will have of finding something within your budget. For Borders, have a look at Hastings & Co based Kelso & Selkirk
