i haven't got a semi-flex but i've ridden in Barrie's saddles for years (have the forerunner to the semi-flex, among others) and they are v comfy and fantastic for horses' backs.
lady_bird, they are made to your horse's wither pattern in the first place, i've been in the factory seeing them made quite a few times. i'm not sure whether they ever need adjusting... if you have serge panel, white wool flocked (as i always do with his) then the flocking would certainly need checking and adjusting occasionally. i'm not sure about width fittings though... but i suspect that not many horses change a whole width fitting after reaching maturity, so possibly not.
i have the horse no saddle fits... until i tried him with one of kerilli's barrie swain saddles... the panels are lovely and wide. and Mr Cold-Backed-Impossible-to-Fit loved it.
I had one for about a year, sold it. Yes horse moved better but seat was so wide and uncomfortable for me. Went to a bespoke saddler who makes his saddles in exactly the same way (is not a new thing!) and he fitted it to me too and it is 20,000 times better.
