Looking to see if you lovely people can help, I've recently purchased an Oldenburg mare and need to send her passport back to change ownership details however, not only can I not figure out which part of her passport is the right address but I can't find any info on cost or timing of sending it to them. Can anyone help enlighten me? Thankyou in advance x

The British Hanoverian Society can do a change of ownership for you see their website. The risk of sending a passport back to Oldenburg and it getting lost in the post is quite high. The cost of replacement by the Oldenburg Society will cost you a new ID,a letter from a Notary swearing to the details of loss and a replacement passport can be as high as 150 Euros. This is because these documents are covered by the German Civil code which is not the same as in the UK

I can only tell you about my experience with my registered Westphalian. The Westphalian Registration in Germany didn't want to know. Apparently the passport does not denote ownership and a signed transfer of ownership does. They only want to know if the horse is a stallion or a mare, not geldings. Hope this helps.

I sent my pony's foreign passport to the BEF - they changed the ownership details, put her on the NED and added the bit in that we signed to say that she is not intended for human consumption. Not too expensive, quick and pain-free. I wasn't keen on sending it back to the KNHS!

YasandCrystal the horse is a mare so I'm assuming they would be interested? :/ ahhh complex isn't it!

Dellamoon, hey good to see you're still here, im doing ok its still hard only recently been able to look at all my photos and feel comparatively ok but hes always going to be here :) hows your girl doing? x

Yes then quite possibly. The Westphalian Registration said they like to keep track of premium graded mares and stallions and what they are doing.
Why don't you write to them in English - frankly everyone seems to speak our language as well as we do. Send a photo copy of some pages of yur passport and ask about cost of changing details.

The BHHS can grade Oldenburges into their studbook and many Oldenburg owners find it easier to deal with a UK studbook. The FN do not see any problems with the BHHS doing change of ownership of German horses and as someone said the Westphalians are not particularly interested in horses sold out of Germany.
