PF has always been thin-skinned. She can barely tolerate a dandy brush and only on her legs and neck, NOWHERE on her body... I've told the grooms about this and I'm finally getting through to them NOT to use the bl**dy metal curry comb on her back, ESPECIALLY as she's starting to moult and gets especially ticklish.
Anyhoo, today groom announces PF has kidney pain, and in my presence touches her very lightly in that area. PF practically disappears and, rather like Bridget Jones, I think "f************************************!! How did I miss that?!" OK, so they tack her up for me, but her flatwork and jumping have been absolutely fine with no sign of crookedness, resistance etc. So I take her out for a quick spin on the lunge and when we're in the school touch her back to make absolutely sure... nothing. Not a flinch, quiver, nowt unless I poked and prodded quite hard. So what's all that about? Do you think she's been sensitised to the grooms rougher handling?? I prodded a bit further several times later and it was as if I'd imagined previous crouching... ideas / suggestions??
