He has white marks where his tack fits when I got him he even had a mark across the top of his head where then headcollar wen't now he has a mark under his belly where the girth sits never come across this before !! what do you do to stop this.

You'll not alter those marks on him, they're there to stay for life now but to stop another horse from getting them is simple; you always use tack to fit properly and make sure the skin is healthy and always clean before you put it on.

Yes I do this he is very clean and has the best tack and saddle but he still gets white marks !!

It's a tried and tested method, been done for ages and it does work well on soft skin. You should only have to use it a few times before the skin hardens (toughens up) enough to be able to take tack, it shouldn't be used every day. It's like when you first start using stable tools and your hands are soft, you will get blisters until they are more used to the work then it doesn't bother you; SS is used so that the horse doesn't get those blisters or reactions. It seems to me that whoever had your horse before you wasn't careful enough; either the tack was hard and rubbed him or it didn't fit properly or in the girth area, perhaps the girth was left so it could move and cause friction, any of which (and more) is why the hair follicles have died back, hence the white hairs.
As I said before, once white hairs appear from tack rubs they won't go away.
Incidentally, you don't use any of those plastic girths do you, they're prime culprits for causing sweating which with friction can cause the white hairs too?
