I have a very sensitive skinned chestnut warmblood- he comes up in lumps and bumps for no reason at all! He's covered in tiny bumps all over at the moment.

Can anyone recommend a supplement or wash to help? I have tried the NAF "love the skin he's in" supplement and it helped a bit but I'm not sure it's worth the price tag.

I'm thinking of getting him a sweetitch rug to keep the midges off, does anybody else use one for a horse that doesn't actually have sweetitch?

Sounds like a an allergy perhaps look at feed/grazing?

My TB mare is the same and wears rugs all year round, though i just have a really good fly rug which seems to do the trick!

Perhaps try brewers yeast?

My sensitive tb came up in tiny bumps, they scabbed and oozed a bit too-yuk!
I think it was a reaction to eating bark chippings that some numpty dumped at the edge of the field. I put him on Happy Tummy charcoal and they cleared up within days. Only used one tub as the bumps didn't recur once I'd run out.
