Last summer my dog got gastroenteritus and was poorly for about a week and was nearly admited for IV fluids.
He recovered well and is now fine apart from having such a sensitive tummy. I feed him a mixture of nature diet, natural lifestage and tinned fish (pilchards tuna etc)
with a small handfull of mixer biscuits and this usually suits him fine.
He will however every couple of weeks go through a day or two of loose stools and vomitting.
He doesn't scavange and eat things he shouldn't and doesn't get tit bits so I know exactly what he eats. My other problem is that he refuses to eat dried foods (have tried everything and he would rather starve) and can be fussy about which meats he has (turns his nose up at chicken but loves lamb!!!). He prefers really smelly cheap food which although good for my wallet isn't good for his tummy.
Any advice / comments greatly received

Ours was an odd one as well and this sounds quite similar. He would catch rabbits and eat them whole with no side effects but give him expensive dried dog food and he would get a dicky tum or turn his nose up at it. In the end after trying every dog food available, we settled on the cheapest of the cheap nasty (we are talking £9.00 for 15 KG) type stuff and he was fine! He would still go loose in the hot/warm weather and on these occassions we fed him boiled Basmati rice and tinned dog food for a few days until we could wean him back. Worked well.

My terrier Daisy may is terible with her tummy she is a real fussy eater, and got dia very frequently, she had HGE last month and was on a drip etc, i now feed her hills zd and she loves it, its a low allergen diet available in tins and dry and luckily she loves both specially made for dogs with sensitive tummys and skin... highly reccomended it def works

To settle your dogs stomach (and may stop the problem re-occuring) feed some natural bio yogurt each day. Just a spoonful on the food is enough, most dogs adore yogurt!

Halfpass, try to feed wheat free mixer, it could be wheat that's causing the problem. I don't know whats in natural lifestage, but Nature Diet is at least wheat gluten free, and possibly completely gluten free.

I know that a company called Bertie's make a wheat free mixer, they've also brought out a new wet food, similar to Nature Diet, same size packs but with added glucosamine and chondroitin. The adult flavours are (predictably!) lamb and chicken!
