My mare has been off work for several months as I had a baby in May, and has a little Shetland as a companion. They are now VERY attached, in fact I don't think they've actually been separated since I introduced them last November! Problem is I have to start riding the mare again this weekend as I have someone coming to see her next week with a view to taking her on loan and getting her back into work properly. Seeing as at the moment you can't even put one in a stable and tie the other one up outside without them getting anxious I'm not sure how I'm going to manage to ride one with the other in the vicinity without them both going crackers. They are currently at my parent's farm so I'm thinking it might be better to bring the mare home and leave the Shettie behind for a week or so until people have been to see her and made a decision whether they want her... Bit drastic but I'm hoping they'll both settle down after a day or two and at least I can show the mare to these people without the two of them yelling at each other and getting in a state.
Any thoughts/suggestions??!!! Feel awful separating them but can't think of another way round it!
