Has anyone had experience of this? It happened 2 days ago so is of course still going to be painful, but how long does it go on being painful in 45 year old women? How long will I be unable to ride the now wonky donkey that caused this to happen?

What happened? Well, picture the scene. Beautiful spring-like day, perfect for a hack with a friend. Tried out a new route. Crossed a lane, followed the off-road path up a steep bank, my TB mare spooked at a pipe she saw and jumped the 2 or 3' off the bank back down onto the road, loss of traction, she did a Bambi impression (I was still on at this point !), at some point she thought I pressed the 'eject' button and I landed on the road on my shoulder, at which point my friend got off her horse to help, mine spooked again so did hers and they both ******ed off, galloping up the lane and across a busy road all the way home. Meanwhile my friend and I trudge home with our war wounds. After the adrenalin wore off I went to A&E to find out I have rupture my right acromioclavicular joint and damaged the cartilage.

Horse is now a wonky donkey with a massive Haematoma the size of a baby's head on her stifle and cuts and bruises all up and down her legs *owner/rider secretly mutters about sympathy rating of zero*

I've been told I'll be off games for at least a couple of months. How did it work out for you if you have experience of this?

Ouch - very painful.

It depends on the grade of the injury and whether you need surgery could be at least a month if not more.

all the best.
