Well we headed off to castlewellan show yesterday , its started off quite wet, we were down there nice and early, First class was missy ... My 2 year ISH, She got 2nd ...Only 2 in the class mind ..but she was being a real tinker, calling to tommy and not standing at all ...Just being a real pain in the behind .

Then next was tommy's class in the Reg Welsh section A of any age . This was only his second time doing inhand and he got 3rd ...Was a big class with quite a few lovely little A's . He was on his toes I have to say, due to calling to missy and wanting to get back to the box , He did go better because normally I have to gee him up abit to get him moving off .

Then after this class we had the M&M lead rein, He was just a little beggar , was playing with the rings of the bit and shaking the head quite abit, just generally not listening , so we got 5th, The judge was lovely, she was from over the water(Im in n.ireland) and said that she could see he was unsettled and that tommy and tiarnan just need to come together more ) . I could have strangled him at this point as he just never shut his mouth neighing and neighing and calling to missy . The pair of them have only been to 2 shows together , its the last time . Grrrr .

Other than that not a bad day, Got talking to tommys breeder today and he couldnt get over the change in tommy . I dont know if anyone remembers the pic of the little stallion that I posted a pic of ? Brookvale Little Tiger, I wasnt sure on what relation he was to tommy but found out yesterday he is tommys half brother

... They do look very alike .

Pics to follow once I get them off my friends camera .

The 2 of them being youngsters , how does anyone deal with this situation at shows ? Do you start to seperate them at home ? They used to share a field , just the pair of them , but now they are in a field with 4 others , so mixing well but always see that they arent far away from each other .

The neighing was driving me nuts yesterday, Tommys is that loud for such a wee scitter of a thing .

We have this problem and ours are never turned out together, Last year we wanted them both to go to the riding club qualifier and we had to take one , then leave my daughter with him and go 30 miles back for the other , then stay at the other end of the show and swap over , then bring them back together of course . Nightmare, luckily one usually does dressage and the other events, this was for showjumping which they both can do!

I absolutely hate taking two horses together for anything and so dread being asked for lifts anywhere not because I'm mean but because I find the whole thing really winds me up!!

My old mare would 'latch on' to anything even if she'd not met them before and would be a total pain in the butt. Current horse isn't much better, not dangerous but noisy and irritating and you couldn't compete with him and dread to think what the youngster will be like.

No, it's ok if you are going somewhere as an item like a hack/pleasure ride and even then you have hands full if they lose sight of each other but I never take more than one to a show now.

I am still trying to make my 8 year old listen to me more at shows. He is fine in the SJ (enjoys it and knows he has to concentrate) but if we go eventing the dressage is terrible!!! He neighs continually to his friend and as a result gets very stressed and tense. I think I might try some rescue remedy or similar next time out, doesn't need sedating as such, just want to take the edge off. He is absolutely pretty much perfect when he goes out by himself.
