Hi im not a regular poster more of a lurker but i would like to see if anyone has any advice on my present situation.
Two days ago every owners worst nightmare happened and my mare was rushed to the vets tuesday evening with a possabiltiy of her large intestine being wrapped around her spleen. Now my big bulshy gelding is very attached to my mare so i had the vet sedate him before she left.
im now pretty concerned that he has eaten or drunk much. He has calmed down considerably even since last night and this morning was pretty attached to me and rubbing on me lots!
He did look at his bucket but not really take much and i think hes eaten some hayledge since last night as the haynet is twisted round. He had droppings in his stable this morning .
As he is such a stressy horse he has his mirror and his treat ball already. They have been seperated before when he had to go to the vets and also when he was on box rest.
I would like to spend more time with him but unfortunatly work are less than pleased i had to take time off for the vet and im not allowed to leave on my lunch break to check him
My mare is doing well at the moment and may be home depending on how she is today either on the weekend or monday .
I have always feared if she was to go first that i may have to consider the worst for him to.
Thanks in advance
