Looking for some advice in relation to a very anxious TB. We recently lost our old boy, due to age related problems. Our remaining 'big softee' is really getting himself into a right old tizzy, and not settling down at all. We have the radio on with him from morning to night playing gentle music and a lot of conversation pieces . Putting him out to the field is not a option due to the condition of the ground after the bad weather and I'd also be worried that he might run stupid and harm himself. I'm considering getting a small companion, but would love to hear of any other tried and tested ideas that have worked. TIA

Borrow something as soon as you can. Pop a message on your local FB groups and someone will be bound to pop up to lend you something (so they get it kept for free for a bit).
Easier to loan as can send back later.
Even if you have to keep other side of the fence to yours, it should help.

Short term, if really unsettled, chat to your vet to see what sedatives might help short term till you get him a companion.
Good luck x

As TXF, I'd go for a small companion asap. I had to do this recently, and I fostered a pony filly from the RSPCA, which has worked out very well. Because I've fostered from them before, I didn't have to wait for a home check as they understood the urgency.

Thanks guys for you advice. I have a 'wee woman' coming on loan over the weekend to keep him company and if it works out ok then she might become a permanent resident. Many thanks again
