Hey guys
Looking for a wee bit of advise.
I recently posted about my new gelding and his companion mares extremely close bond. The companion mare is being picked up this evening. I'll be so glad to just be able to get on and do things with my new lad now without her threatening to commit suicide when I take him out, and him getting so wound up it's verging on dangerous. I've got a wee gelding that's happy to be left alone and doesn't form strong bonds coming to replace her. He's ready for me to pick up when i'm ready.
Sooooo... What's my best plan of action for when she gets picked up. I don't have stables (they're getting built this summer, we've not long moved in). I know for a fact he will go beserk if I just take her out the field and disappear with her. I'm thinking I should bring them both out. Get her ready to travel, get her loaded and off. In the mean time put a controller headcollar on him, then spend a good while making a fuss of him, give him his dinner, then boot him up to turn him back out incase he has a fit. He's already jumped the electric fencing to get to the mare (when I was giving someone a lesson on her in the ajoining field) so I want to take precautions.
I've always kept my horses at livery apart from when I was a kid (my dad rented my chum and I a field with absolutely no facilities and we just got on with it). Think i've become more neurotic in my old age and now that i'm a mother
Cheers guys
