Hi guys,
My lovely horse is going into Liphook on Monday to have a sequestrum removed from his front leg just above his fetlock.
He came in from the field several weeks ago with a tiny wound, which was down to the bone, and taken to hospital where it was operated on to remove a bone chip. Sadly it turned out he had another chip and this was also operated on some weeks later. Anyhow, xrays have now shown that he has a sequestrum which we have been waiting to operate on until the surrounding bone has strengthened. So Tuesday is the day of the op. (We've given up counting the cost of his uninsured treatment - needless to say the vets should be naming a new wing after us!).
So my question is: If you've had a horse with this problem, how did long did it take to recover afterwards and have you had any ongoing problems with it since?
Many thanks folks, and fingers crossed for my poor boy who has been so brave and well behaved on box rest which has a couple of months now.
