My pony used to absolutly fly round a jump course at 90mph like a super star. But ive been working him a lot more lately and i think its taking a toll on his motivation. Ive taken him jumping lately and also dressage and a ODE and generally in the school and he seems to be getting really dead to my leg. He is fine in every other way and had him checked over and hes in perfect health i just think im working him a lot and hes getting tired.

At the min hes on Hi-Fi lite (hes a native so got to watch the weight) and i have just but him on Stay Power cubes but they dont seem to have worked. Has anyone got any recommendations or supplements i could try? ( i can't use spurs due to age limit at events)

Sorry if im not making much sense, just trying to get the general idea across.

Nuppafeed staying power is fabulous stuff and really helps with stamina! It is a liquid so no weight gain! I have used it with my mare in the past and will stock up with some for my daughter's pony for pony club camp!
Maybe a few fun rides might perk your horse up! I find my mare gets a bit lazy when she is bored so find that rides in company soon perk her up!

Mon & Tues i tend to ride in the school for about 45min. Wed he'll either have the day off or we'll go for a hack around the fields. & i'll go in the school thurs fri and sat for about 45min and then a hack or day off sunday. this does change depending on what i have on.

Ah a few people have mentioned nuppafeed, i think ill it a try. Thank you!

I had this problem a while back. I gave Jack a week off from schooling, went out hacking and worked on getting him foreward and moving off my leg better. Also, make sure that you don't nag. I didn't realise, but I was nagging and dulling him to my aids. Ask once, and if you get no response ask harder :p
He did loose some of his fitness, but when he got back in to the school he was much more enthusiastic about things :) Also, getting a horslyx helped him get what he needed without feed, but they are quite messy, so be prepared for a sticky horse :D

I'd get him out hacking and give the schooling a break for a bit, you might find his enthusiasm sparks up again if he's not having to school every day :)

Yep I agree with above....
I have a very lazy horse. He was awful in the school. Terribly lazy. So we stopped schooling so much, now I do my schooling on hacks and work on flatwork in the field once maybe twice a week if we have a comp approaching. Much more enthusiasm from horse!

From another rider of a laidback horse. Cut the schooling right back, get out hacking and try and make it fun, different places, lots of fast work for excitement and fitness. XC, fun rides and the beach all help his attitude.

Take him off the stay power cubes, maybe call the vet and have a blood test - sounds like he has some sort of mineral deficiency - selenium maybe?

Your sig is way to big btw, lovely photos but makes viewing your threads really hard!

Yup, too much school work-how much of that is jumping? I would say take two of the scool days and make them ahcking days, you might find he brightens up1 Include plenty of fast work if possible on your hacks, and keep jumping to a minimum, he is likely bored!
