so my little is already having an horrendous time with flies and yes i kno wits still a little early but she is covered in open bites that are just awfully swollen she currently wears a full snuggy hoods fly suit all the time and is rugged up when it comes off to stop any flies getting here as easily but yet she still gets bitten while my other two who wear absoloutly nothing do not even get a single fly on them.
she also has a fly trap type thing up in her stable(its a like strip on the cieling that attracts them then they stick to it) so thats catching them as she atracted lots of flies in her stable also.
i have tried most fly sprays sold for horse and humans that cant hurt her and i have tried a classic of marmite in their feed for the blood stream.

if anyone has any good tips for keeping them away i would really appreciate it?
like i said she is always covered up but i cant keep them off her but she doesnt itch them too much if she even does at all but they are so unsightly and i feel so sorry that she is always swarmed by them  she is also having blood tests done which have been sent off today so we can tick that off the list.
please help as with the heat we have in good ol' norfolk she overheats with her snuggy huds on im at a complete loss of where to turn next ??:( the poor creature is so unhappy and i love her so much and cant bear to see her looking so sad and unhealthy

My old horse became increasingly allergic to horse bites. On veterinary advice throughout the fly season I gave him apis mel homeopathic tablets. It didn't stop the flies biting but it stopped the bad reaction and made him loads more comfortable, no more swollen lumps and itching.

Have you tried Coopers fly repellent? Or one of the fly sheets which are impregnated with repellent, know people who use those with good results although have never used them ourselves.

One word "deosect"

Its strong so patch test it first but you can get it online for about 35.00. You dilute it in water and it smells like creosote BUT its costs effective and worked on my TB who used to have to have sterroid jabs into her really bad fly bites. After she had deosect we never had bad ones again, and my warmblood hasnt either.

Its also used for sweet itch and mites so it handy to have in your stuff.
