We have did the same at pc games during foot and mouth.. The strange thing is they're still being judged as a serious competition I would have thought? Now that you mention it though having been through bending poles on two feet rather than four I can hardly talk!
Why is it odd?
Firstly, at least they are doing the right thing and leaving the horses at home to prevent further spread of a dangerous disease, and secondly....at least they are still getting out and having a bit of fun!
When we had the big outbreak of foot and mouth a few years ago, the local hunts cancelled the childrens meets they had that day....the riding school I went to at the time, decided to have a show without ponies, and the kids loved it. I gave meself a splint on my leg (the big one at the front! cannon bone...?
Nowt weird there....
Good thing they aren't doing a jumping session , pogo sticks at the ready girls!!
Only in America would they think of something so rediculous.
Reminds me of when I used to learn my dressage test by 'trotting' and 'cantering' round the yard in the same fashion - left the hobby horse out though!
