my main worrys are the flooring!! if it gave way while traveling i would never 4give myself! also 2 cheek that its in good nick and safe enough to transport the little darlings around!
Your trailer has tyres, brakes, wheel bearings, suspension, hitchlock, reversing catch, lights etc , failure of any one could cause a problem or an accident.
Then there is aso the floor and ramp to be checked for safety.
It's just like a car without the engine, gearbox and steering., but no annual MOT.
I had mine done 2 years running and it cost £85 each time. As a person with a mechanical/engineering background, I have now decided to do it myself (I used to do my wagon, inc MOT prep!). Floor needs checking, all joints, bearings, seals and loadbearing parts should be checked. Lights should be done each time you hook up.
My husband has a haulage firm and in my experience if you have a vehicle or trailer of any description and are pulled by police or VOSA and it is found to be unsuitable for road use it will get a GV9 or something similar which means its banned from the road until its been repaired and properly inspected also and signed off by authority so may be cheaper to just service it first as last.
PS they dont have to have a reason to pull you either.
