Hello everyone

Does anyone have experience of sesamoid conditions? My pony seems to have developed enlarged sesamoids on one foreleg. At least I think it's her sesamoids, she has a distinct hard lump about the size of half a small walnut on the back of her fetlock just above her ergot. No heat or soft swelling around the enlarged sesamoids and she is not lame but does show a reluctance to flex that leg when picking out feet etc. Some days she seems to flinch when I press the lump hard, some days she doesn't seem to take much notice. I didn't notice it, it was my farrier who noticed it when she was uncharacteristically grumpy to be shod.

The other foreleg has what I would call prominent sesamoids but they are not as enlarged as on the other leg so I am thinking that it may partly be how she is built but of course I don't like the discrepancy between legs.

She is a 13hh Icelandic that pretty much goes everywhere as though her tail was on fire so she is the type that wouldn't let a bit of discomfort slow her down but I did a 15 mile fun ride on her on Sunday and there has been no sign of any heat or swelling since.

Am currently looking at huge vet bills for another horse so I don't want to call the vet unnecessarily but I don't like her reticence to flex that leg. Should I be worried?
