Just wanted some info and personal experiences on the above, my friends cob is having x-rays for this and it's not looking good.

She's wanting to gather as much info on this as possible, the first initial symptoms, diagnosis, if there is any possible treatment/opps and after care, remedial shoeing etc

Vet is still carrying out further x-rays to be 100% but has confirmed that he does think it is this.

She has been told in some cases horses can be used as light hacks...as in just walking, odd trot depending on the individual horse, but may need a long period off work before they can think about even doing light work.

I said I would bob a post on here so I can print it off for her to read.

Also in the vet. section.

Many Thanks

My friends 9 year old mare had what they first thought to be tendonitis so they turned her away for 6 months. Turned out to be sesamoiditis after tests when she got brought back into work, and she was still lame, and it was that causing the tendonitis.

The damage in her joints was really bad and mri scans/scans confirmed that it was totally inoperable (not sure if you can operate), and she would never be ridden again. Im not sure of the ins and outs, but am sure it is basically the bones rubbing directly on each other. She had it in her back legs.

Merlin has this as a complication of his hind fetlock arthritis.

But... he is sound and in full work

It shows up on the x-rays, but doesnt seem to affect him at the moment
