For some motivation, set yourself a goal here with a timespan of 6months - something you can push yourself for to complete by February 2008. It can be anything - a competition goal, something confidence related, improving your riding ability, creating a stronger bond between you and your horse or even finding your perfect horse if you are in the market for a 4 legged friend!
I'll keep a note of everyones goals and in 3 months we'll have a progress report and in 6months time, see who has got where.

My Goal: I want to be confident SJing and having a bit more control over my horse when jumps are involved. I want to be happy at 3'-3'3 by February.

Who cares to join me?

I be nealy qualified for the indoor nationals, to be in the top 10 at the junior tri-nations, aiming to win euston, to get a dressage half as good as at home...

LOL, not too many! My whole life is different goals, normals competitions!

Well mine is quite simple after all yours! I have lost the summer completely to a back problem and have just been given the all clear to ride again in walk only until I am totally strong. So my goal is to get me and my horse fit again and get back out endurance riding next March.

ooo this is a good idea as I've just achieved the goals I set myself in march!

So, in the next 6 months I would like to go on one little hack around the fields with my pony on our own. I would also like to get a decent canter sorted, and find the right bit for both of us.

errm I have so many! I want to get him moving forwards properly, working in an outline consistently, and jumping a 1m course nicely by next year (well the jumping one within 6 months really, but the others will need more work!)

fantastic idea

I haven't been able to achieve my goal this summer - to try a XC course, but Hemir being off work has made that difficult!

My goal for next year will be to get Hemir working from behind and going well...allready started

and to compete him

And i might be getting a filly so my goal with her will be to make her bombproof and teaching her manners

good luck everyone else

What a brilliant idea

Writing down your goals is supposed to make you more committed to them and therefore give you a greater chance of achieving them!

I have a few:

Be scoring above 60% regularly in Unaff Novice dressage tests by end June 2008.

Be showjumping unaffiliated up to 2'9" by June 2008 (given my confidence jumping this one's a tall order, as is the next!).

Complete at least 2 hunter trials over this winter (height no issue - they can be 6" for all I care!)

Be competing in CT up to 70cm by Easter next year and enjoying it!

Think I'd better go and get working on these now!!!

DA: To have him happy out competing at dressage & unaf jumping. And maybe an intro arena event

Dubh: To do a sane test over winter, at least 1 N/C & A nice round at his last 2 PN's of the season. Oh and maybe a Novice arena event, maybe

I have my goals written on post-it notes and suck around my room

my equine ones though are:
- Compete in some pure dressage comps on Tara and get placed in the top 6.
- have a go at newcomers.

My goals (with my youngster Brooklyn) are:

- improve our transitions especially canter transitions (at the moment getting the right lead is a bit of an issue)
- get confidence out hacking & go out regularly
- jump 3' courses happily

I havent set any for winter as I wont have as much time when I start my new job, but I would like to get Gin working happily under the flood lights. Shes a real wuss and gets tense.
If I can master sitting to her medium trot Im hoping to ride a medium test next year.
