Thanks

Viki

just looked at the BD rulebook online and there's nothing that looks like that in the "legal bits" section

So I presume nope, it's not legal but I could be barking up wrong tree

Oh looks like I could be winning a free bottle of wine here. I couldn't see it on the BD website hence the post. Although it does say if in doubt send them a diagram of the bit and they will confirm if it is or not so I might email them a picture

Unless anyone on here can catergorically confirm it isn't legal as there is a bottle of Pinot Grigio riding on this

have a feeling it might be, you can have fulll cheek, and as long as theres only 2 links in the mouthpeice, then it's ok, your alowed french link and mylers, whats the bit called and whats the lozenge for? if it a comfort bit it should be fine! but if it's stronger then maybe not

BD rule book:

SNAFFLE
Unless bits follow the configuration of those illustrated below (based
on FEI Rules) they are not permitted. Where there is any doubt,
guidance should be sought from the Chief Executive of British
Dressage, in writing with a diagram. No variations other than those
illustrated may be used.

1.Loose ring snaffle
2.a,b,c Snaffle with jointed mouthpiece where middle piece is rounded
3. Egg-butt snaffle
4. Racing snaffle D-ring
5. Egg-butt snaffle with cheeks
6. Loose ring snaffle with cheeks (Fulmer)
7. Snaffle with upper cheeks only
8. Hanging cheek snaffle
9. Straight bar snaffle. Permitted also with mullen mouth & eggbutt
rings.
10. Snaffle with rotating mouthpiece
11. Double jointed with roller in the centre

Now you can see the confusion - thanks ever so much for your replies ever more so as most of them are in my favour

Seriously though a 'trainer' is changing all her pupils to these bits and they are going out competing, which is fine, however another very well respected person I know is saying NO.
