What's best? My WB is normally really laid back, but since he moved yesterday he has been really unsettled. He went out yesterday and is out today, but I'm not sure what to do for he best when I go later, ie whether to ride or not.

I can't decide if it would be best to leave him for a few days to settle in, then ride him and risk changing his routine again, or ride him tonight, even though he'll be stressed, so that he gets something to think about and gets straight into his new routine.

Also, if anyone has any tips on how to settle them quickly, I'd appreciate it!

I gave Thumper a week to settle in before I got on him - I think it really helped.

Gave him tiime to get used to the sights and sounds of what was going on.

If i moved a horse I would be inclined to just let him mooch around and settle in for a week. I'm sure he'll be fine after he's had a chance to make some friends and settle down

It's a very different environment to where he was before isn't it? I'd let him chill out and get used to things`if I were you (but then, I am a worrier as you know!!)

That's the line of thought I'm having at the moment - just let him chill for a few days/a week. Bless him - he's quite stressed. I suppose riding will possibly make him worse.

I think a lot of people like to just carry on as before with the regimes they had previously. I just don't 'get' that. If it needs time to settle, let him have it.

I tend to think it is better to ride them pretty much straight away, it gives them an opportunity to get their bearings which makes them feel more comfortable, and that they "know" where they are.

Yeah, I think a week settling in would be good. I did that with my youngster when he first arrived. Keeping in a routine also seemed to settle him.
