So, things are moving onwards :D I have horses for Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday (if I am with who I *think* I am), and Friday. I have beds for Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday nights.

The Surrey Union have very kindly donated the Friday, AND a horse, and the offer of not one, but two beds!!  :D :D :p

I was very excited, until I saw this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bKeouX-M_ds

At which point excitement :D :D :D turned to    and I wondered what I'd let myself in for! For someone who has NEVER subscribed, and who hasn't hunted regularly for...er...six years...that's a ecking huuuuge hedge

So yes, that is where we are at currently, hopefully more to update on in the next couple of days :)

if you're struggling for a bed before going out with the sandhurst on the Sunday then I have a spare sofa. I dont have a spare horse but if you posted on their facebook page you might be in luck. PS - i dont think the SU always jump hedges that big!

Don't panic! The SU doesn't have an awful lot to jump, boxing day is the highlight! Mostly timber max of 3ft if you jump anything at all. Enjoy! I'd offer you a bed but you have 2 already :D

Are you doing this to raise money for a charity?

Blankney hunt on Wednesdays if you need to fill that day.

And Cranwell bloodhounds hunt on Sundays I think.

I think I have the days full, it's just confirming with the packs if that makes sense? I have days offered through friends, so it's just a case of me ringing and confirming.

I'm doing it for charity yes - Help for Heroes.

:)

That sounds amazing! lucky you.
If you are stuck for the Wed i'm sure we could sort something out with the Berkeley.
When are you planning on doing this?
Depending on where the meet is the Quorn monday might be a big one too!

I hopefully have my Wednesday sorted, I just need to ring and confirm (see previous post!)
Planning on second or third week of November. Date won't be confirmed until the start of October when the Surrey Union have their meet card sorted - they hunt alternate Fridays and Saturdays you see!
I'm very excited about the Quorn day - a friend is lending me her amazing pocket rocket!

Just watched the video, wow decent hedge looks fun! But there is a tiger trap in it as well, so could always jump that but jumping a hedge on a decent hedge is a lot more fun!! I had my first day out with Bicester on Thursday, jumped quite a few rails, which were decent but jumpable

I had my first day out with Bicester on Thursday, jumped quite a few rails, which were decent but jumpable, also jumped my gate on my new horse (2nd one ever) but it was later on in the day. Everyone was really nice, there was some hirelings out and they all went well. Thursday is considered there 'best' day. Have also properly jumped most of the fences in Kimblewick country, have quite a mixture of heights but all again nice and jumpable, and you can normally tell the trickier ones, as some people will go around. I'm sure you will have plenty of fun with everyone, if it was me I would make sure I take my own neck strap, so often I will put my fingers round it when jumping something slightly big/tricky so would like to know that every horse had one on. :)

JBJ that's a v good idea RE neck strap! I tend to hail a taxi if in doubt rather than hold neck strap, but tend to have an NS on strange hoss'! I prefer kicking on into huge hedge than rails, hedges more forgiving. I've done 3 five bar gates EVER, and for my sins, two were metal ones, one after the other! I was one of only two people to jump, 2nd fieldmaster and field went around  I didn't realise there was a second one in my defence! The other gate I jumped was off two strides on a 14.1  I thought we were going THROUGH the gateway. Followed the master through and suddenly realised that actually we were going OVER the gateway. Poor pony!
