My mare is in foal, due next May. Are there any myths, old wives tales etc with regards to the sex of the foal we can look out for? Although we really don't care what she has in the end, I am routing for a filly, OH for a colt.

Nail test! If it swings along the spine it is supposed to indicate a colt, if it circles then a filly.

The last 4 times I have done this on my mares it was correct, just have to wait until March to see if I get a filly now.

The nail is NEVER wrong (for me anyway) about whether a mare is in foal or not.

I tried the nail test and found it inconclusive... that said, I was sort of hoping for a filly so I may've subconsciously tried to 'wiggle' it into a circle

I did have a gut instinct that the Little Cigar would be a boy from the moment he was conceived. I was also right about my sister's 2 babies (1 of each)
