ok i have a question? can a castrated dog get sexual feelings?
my rottie is in love with my collie quite literally. he won't leave her alone humping at any opporunity. i know it's nothing to do with dominance we have a stong pecking order in my house hold. He has even started humping his bed and anything he can get his paws on. He has not been like this before
Do i stop this from happening. as it is not the most attractive thing to watch while you have guests

Is she in season?? My castrated JRT still humps my dads lab when she is in season (he won't have her done, despite my best efforts

). My JRT only ever humps front legs and then only bitches which are in season and tarting it up.

she is in season and my he thinks it the season to be jolly

. i just thought he wouldn't get sexual feeling because he has no testosterone and she has been in season 4 times before and he hasn't bothered?

Ahh bless him, it's not the dogs fault (if your bitch is anything like my dads lab), she literally throws herself at my JRT, rubbing her bits in his face etc... till she gets a reaction.

My advice, get her done too...............She will drive him mental ever season!!!

Just one other word of caution, if they actually manage to do it, they can and will tie!!!!

...........................This happened to a friends Lab bitch and another friends castrated vizsla dog up the yard in the middle of the sand arena!!!!

Poor dogs and owners were all mightily embarrassed, stuck in the arena for all to see (tied back to back like a push me pull you).

ok thanks for the advice i wanted to breed from her she has great breeding lines but changing my mind rapidly. still puzzed with the testostorone thing?

This can happen but it will usually happen every time so if you say she has been in season before and got no reaction from him i would take him for a hormone check at the vets.

I have had a couple of dogs come to class who have been like this who ended up having a tiny hormone imbalance and was sorted with just a course of shots!

One of my previous dogs was a rescue dog who was 4 years old when I got him. He was neutered the day I brought him home to live with us. He was a lovely dog, sadly dead now, and he adored my bitch! She was entire and the pair of them would bonk all the time when she was in season. Never bothered me and they were both perfectly happy with doing this, so no harm done. He never bonked objects though, however that may have been because my bitch satisfied any needs he had.

I don't know why your dog has only just started doing this though - as I say, mine always did it until he died and they were the perfect little couple.
