thanks for all your encouragement to go for it against the seller of the saddle which broke. I wouldn't feel entirely comfortable naming them on an open forum because they didn't make the shabby item.

I will say that if anyone on here has bought a GP treeless saddle from ebay please check your stirrup bar attachments. I took the saddle to a well respected master saddler tonight and when he inspected it he found that not only was one loop nearly snapped off but the other was showing signs of tearing as well. He says that this should not happen in two months of normal usage and the item was faulty.

If you have one please check that yours isn't showing signs of wear as if it snaps out on a road or going over a jump you could be seriously injured. I'm just really glad that I found it in time.

I think that if more people went to a qualified saddle fitter and stopped trying to fit their own saddles less of this would happen, I feel really strongly about this also I wish there where clearer guidelines on who to get a saddle from and who should fit it from the society of master saddlers!

You clearly haven't read my earlier posts nor know anything of the situation. This post was intended as an update for the people who had been kind enough to offer advice on the situation.

The saddle in question was bought after consultation with a well respected master saddler, it merely happens to have developed a fault. Just because an inadequate piece of leather was used in the stirrup attachments it does not mean that the saddle itself is intrinsically bad for my horse.

Please do not jump to conclusions that can cause offence

at the end of the day (sorry OP as this isnt relevat to you) but a lot of either master saddlers and saddle fitters can be a bunch of idiots who dont actually know much about fitting horses/riders and finding anything suitable-it has previously been a real problem to find something
