What a handsome boy. I love weims, but do not feel up to the challenge of training one to work. Such lovely dogs.
 
Lovely puppy Shady. Haha about the training Clodagh, some people feel the same about Flatcoats but mine have always been great to train. Maybe a tiny bit to much sense of humour occasionally!!

You are right about the training and Loki was not easy despite his excellent breeding, always it took 3 times of asking and he never was good with recall 50/50 at best but his sense of humour made up for it. This little chap is completely different at the same age, he observes everything and walks next to you, he's very comfortable in the house too and nothing seems to phase him. The first time Loki heard Captain Kirks communicator from an old episode of Star Trek he completely freaked out!

I have seen one beautifully trained flatcoat, and several appalling ones!! I have never seen a weim working in the flesh but they are more of a moorland than woodland dog I would think.

You are right Clodagh and the power and stamina of them is unbelievable, they originated from bloodhounds in Germany and were bred to take down wolves and boar, i guess this progressed to smaller game , what's interesting to me is that i live in the middle of boar country and there are almost none here . Lots of beautiful french hounds though and i would recommend one to anybody. I often wonder why nobody is breeding them properly in England, they make the most awesome family dogs

I see photos in Shooting Times of them on the grouse moors. I love their colouring, and those eyes. We go to France most years and follow the boar hounds. :-)

Have you ever seen a herd of Boar ? the earth literally moves, they are seriously scary! i was standing on this hill about 3 years ago and a herd went through the valley in front of me, felt like i was in a Jurassic Park film.
Weim eyes unnerve most people and they do take a bit of getting used to. They usually change to amber as they age but Loki's stayed wolf yellow. He was also 71 cm of solid muscle ,delivery drivers wouldn't get out of their vans but he was the softest idiot imaginable.
Just wanted to say how gorgeous your own dogs are, just seen them in The Club House, very beautiful heads.xx

I never see anything! On the years my OH goes without me he sees hundreds of the b things! I have to make do with photos and video. I love my labs. :-)

Thank you, you lovely lot, for your kind words :):), i have to admit i was worried about getting another the same colour( silver grey) incase it upset me too much but i have to say he has filled the hole left by Loki and they are very different at the same age This one is so chilled , like he's lived here forever and is just a tiny version of a full grown one, very weird!Loki was like a whirlwind in the house and never really changed, very funny but full on chaos all the time :D

Puppy is lovely isn't he, the colour ranges from blue grey, silver grey to beige grey, Nick-el will be between silver and beige which is lovely as you get copper highlights in the sun :) xxx

He is stunning - and I love the idea that he comes with free highlights :) :) I know I've said it before but I'm really so pleased for you, it really is one of those 'meant to be' situations after you sadly losing Loki :) x
